Established in 1948, the University of Miami's AFROTC Detachment has a rich history of fostering leadership and excellence. In 1951, the detachment founded its Arnold Air Society chapter, exemplifying its commitment to service and professional development in cooperation with AFROTC detachments across the nation. Detachment 155 has given cadets unmatched opportunities to develop their understanding of Air Force competencies in the field. In the 1960s for example, cadets were given first-hand experience with the B-52 Stratofortress, reflecting the detachment's dedication to advanced training. In 1970, a visit to a Texas Air Force Base allowed cadets to delve into critical skills such as navigation and ejection procedures. From the establishment of Detachment 155, cadets have gathered at the detachment’s cadet lounge or “hanger” as it was known in the 90s to socialize, unwind, and strengthen their camaraderie.
Today, Det 155 continues to take in new cadets to mold into future Air and Space Force officers whom we expect to fight and win our nation’s wars. Fly High Aces!
